UK CAA: Update Regulation to change the height limits in flight and more

Recent amendments dated on July 24th, 2018 of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to Air Navigation Order will begin in next 5 days. The rules allow legally operating the small unmanned aircraft in excess of 400 ft above the surface.
Thanks to working in close cooperation in ongoing negotiations between the UK model aircraft association and CAA in order to control unmanned traffic management in safety, which leads this permission issued.

The latest CAA permission allows doing the aerial shot by the traditional unmanned aircraft systems (except automatic/autonomous flight or the rotorcraft with more than one lift generating rotor or propeller) less than 7 kgs weight at the attitude in excess of 400ft. And this permission is applied to a person who is a remote pilot of a small unmanned aircraft system while also being a member of BMFA, SAA, LMA, FPV UK.

Exemption


On this occasion, CAA also issued the new document called as “Exemption” for the UK model aircraft association members who is the remote pilot of the traditional unmanned aircraft vehicles weighing less than 3.5 kgs can operate at heights up to 1000 ft line of sight and using First Person View.

To ensure safe, first and foremost, your drone must be properly used in accordance with the documentation provided by the drone manufacturer. And, any unmanned aircraft systems flying within 1km of the boundary of a licensed airfield at any height will have to be with the permission of the airfield air traffic control or airfield operator.
