DJI Ronin S - What’s the market changed
DJI Ronin S - Motivated the market change!
DJI nominates the commercial drone market. Besides, they are also the leader in providing a variety of 3-axis camera stabilizers to all-level customers. Each DJI comeback has brought a new breath and stirred the market. Once again after Ronin 2, in 2018 DJI returned spectacularly with Ronin S - their first single hand gimbal for mirrorless and small DSLR shooting. DJI Ronin S released, What did it make the market change?
Ultimate Challenge - Change or Die
DJI is well-known for high-accurate and stable product performance using the penetration price strategies. Evidence that Ronin is inherited Zenmuse advance, released in 2014 at a price of ⅓ of Movi M10 price, which quickly hit the world and jumps into the top of 3-axis stabilizer handheld market. In the meanwhile, the single-hand gimbal is almost level off for a long time with the familiar brands such Zhiyun-Tech, Tilta, CamTV, Nebular, Feiyu (Chinese-based companies) or iKan (US-based company), Pilotfly (Germany-Taiwan based company). Access easily as well as maintain market share at low cost which makes these brands seem to be too subject to create something new, only higher payload or a little camera control capability recorded. And now, DJI gives a potent punch with Ronin S, could be called as new King. The King power makes the “cake” (market share) of the others to be much smaller than ever. “Change or Die” as the way DJI made in 3 years ago to 3-axis gimbal in a ground which have not called the name now.
45-Degree Angle Roll Frame - Overflowing
Did you know this construction presented by Filmpower in June 2017? It is introduced in Nebula 5100 Slant design which features the main arm shorter, improves the structure and the rigidity of roll arm making the whole gear more stable and especially, allows the cinematographers to review their shooting via camera display. Which is innovative change! However, until Ronin S released in February of 2018, this design has to drew some attention or even, many people over the world remember 45-Degree Angle Roll Frame in the S. And now this construction is flooding in the market from Gravity G2X, Adventurer, Pivot…

Pushed technological innovation
Before the S, each new product’ launch focused on higher payload and how to equip gimbal with third parties devices look like monitor, light, microphone or switch camera to tripod or use with dual handle, crane, jib… these are all mechanic update. Ronin S made them have to change. The new DJI gimbal offers the convenience in flexible combination with the mentioned above equipment, it also provides intelligent control for the camera, for shooting angle from low to high shoot, or even for shooting speed via Smoothtrack. What’s an exceptional filming gear! Ronin S pushed Zhiyun to update their Crane 2 with external servo follow focus quickly without price update. The S also pressured other manufacturers to improve their technologies rapidly.

The customers are the happiest people.
DJI reminds me of Apple, one of the world’s leading smartphone manufacturers, makes their rivals have to follow their steps. I love them, but I don’t want a date when DJI nominates the market. Looking forward to answering from Zhiyun-Tech, Tilta, CamTV, Nebular, Feiyu, iKan…
